More Moments About Daniel 5:1-12

The queen, likely Belshazzar's mother, stands in stark contrast to the king in Daniel 5. While the king crumbled in terror and the court stirred in chaos, the queen presented herself calm and confident. (Daniel 5:10) And while we're not told whether or not she believed in God, calling Daniel by his Hebrew name at least showed respect for Daniel's faith. (Daniel 5:12) The queen also says "light and understanding and wisdom" were found in Daniel (Daniel 5:11).

In the New Testament, Jesus tells His disciples, "You are the light of the world" (Matthew 5:14). He commands them to let their light shine through their actions so all men will glorify God. (Matthew 5:15-16) And in Isaiah, the Bible calls the Holy Spirit a Spirit of wisdom and understanding. (Isaiah 11:2)

The same Spirit that lived in Daniel lives in every follower of Jesus today. It is not reserved for Old Testament prophets — the Holy Spirit is our Comforter who will be with us forever. (John 14:16) And because He is in us, we can be light in the darkness and have wisdom and understanding.

Major Moment: A hand writes on the wall during a feast, and Daniel is brought in to interpret for Belshazzar.
