More Moments About 1 Peter 4:1-11

Sarah E. Frazer

The One person who humbly obeyed all of God's will for His life was our Lord, Jesus Christ. Peter reminds us of Christ's example in 1 Peter 4:1. It is through Christ's example that we have hope in our suffering. Our pain is not in vain.

The gospel Jesus came to preach, He also lived. This same Good News is the reason we are no longer bound by sin. (1 Peter 4:4-6) Instead, we have a new life in Christ, and our suffering, our pain, our heartache, and our loneliness will be for the glory of God.

How do we know this? Romans 8:38-39 says, "For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Even our suffering is used by God to work out His perfect will. And we can trust, as Christ did, that God does not leave us while we suffer.

Major Moment: Our model is Jesus, and He equips us to endure hardship, love others well, and anchor ourselves in His Kingdom.
